Daily Gospel Reflection May 11th 2020
Gospel JN 14:21-26
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him,
“Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us
and not to the world?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words;
yet the word you hear is not mine
but that of the Father who sent me.

Dear Friends and Family,
Jesus says
something very interesting about those that “keep my word.” He says, “We will come to him and make our
dwelling with him.” So, the Father and
the Son will move in. Ponder that for a
moment. The more and more our lives
reflect God’s will and plan, the more present; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
will be in our lives. Have you ever had someone
stay in your home that loved you? Have
you ever been that person that stayed in the home of one you loved? Do you remember what you did as a guest? Good manners and etiquette would inspire you
to leave their home better than you found it.
God, as a gracious guest, would bring gifts and blessings that would
transform all aspects of your home.
Peace would abound.
Some see
the difficulties of living the faith in the world today and they shrink from
those trials. Today’s Gospel should move
us to be hospital guests to our God in our homes and in our lives. When we do this the benefits far out way any cost
we might pay. The benefits are actually
two fold; keeping the Word of God in our lives makes this life satisfying and
our life in next a paradise. We have
everything to gain and nothing to lose by loving our God and living according
to his will. So today let us all role
out the welcome mat to our God and let the way we live our lives be a witness
as to lives in our home.
